Amusingly molded as a recumbent figure of a mythical lion-dog, the surface details incised and realistically molded, decorated in a washy underglaze blue beneath a white glaze, the base unglazed. Korean vanity box made with persimmon wood panels. The box lid opens with brass hinges and brass front plating, incised with floral motifs. The interior of the box holds 4 compartments. Its sides conceal two small hidden drawers, opened by brass pulls, and the base of the piece has an interior low shelf.

The flattened globular sharply tapering to a raised ring foot, and sloping to a narrow neck with everted cup-shaped mouth decorated in inlaid with white slip with chrysanthemum floral heads between a double circular ring, applied with a grey celadon glaze overall. It’s in good condition, it measures 7.8cm d. x 4cm h.
