Up for sale is this special example of the beauty of Raku ware, a pottery tradition born more than 400 years ago in the ancient Japanese capital of Kyoto, from the collaboration between great tea master Sen Rikyu (1522-1591) and a potter named Chojiro ( - 1592), the forebear of the great Raku family of potters.

Very rare and exceptional Late Edo/Early Meiji Period C.1880 bronze buddhist temple lantern. Originally held a small dish for an oil lamp. Thick heavy bronze that has oxidized with time to produce a lovely blue/green patina. On tripod legs with fantastic vine motif on the main body panels. Hinges on door still work. Lost wax cast. A small yet resplendent Japanese four panel folding screen. In Japan, small screens are often referred to as, Hina Byobu. The view is showing a waterfall with different flora and fauna.The work has the distinct characteristics of the Kano school which was the dominant school of painting in Japan. An early snow covers the branches of a ragged pine, the clutches of autumn still evident in the red tinged leaves of ivy clinging tremulously to the limbs. This is a spectacular large Kyo-yaki work signed on the base Seifu and enclosed in a period wooden box. Dating from the late 19th to early 20th century, it is nearly 10 inches (25 cm) diameter, 5-1/2 inches (14 cm) to the top of the lid and in excellent condition. This is the work of Seifu Yohei I.

This is Asamai-sibori of the Akita area of the Edo era. It is dyed with an indigo plant of nature. This is good-quality thick cotton spun by hand. This is woven with a good-quality cotton thread spun in the country. The feel is good, and it is comfortable to eyes. Lovely black lacquer Japanese vase with 2 crickets. On the back side is a red dot (2 gold dots are on the front), a very interesting and subtle design element. Note in the photos, there is some minor chipping around base. Measures: 8.5" high, 4.25" across shoulder.

Japanese red lacquer on wood and brocaded Silk Obi Fabric top Folding Stand, 17 1/2" high, 18" wide, 14 1/2" deep-maximum(when opened), and 24" high, 14 1/2" deep(when closed), later part of Meiji period early 1900's, silk fabric has no open seam, all one(1) piece of silk Obi fabric, woven for this stand when it was made. The eight(8) metal caps have impressed design. There are some dull lacquer area from the usage but no damage.

Lovely lacquerware inro, decorated with fish an seashells. With a coral ojime and a carved cinnabar lacquer netsuke. Meiji period (1868-1912). Signed at the bottom. Measurements: the inro 6x5,5 cm, the netsuke 3x2 cm.

This is a well done and rather large Japanese Cloisonne Jar. It is done in the Kyoto style and decorated with three phoenix birds. The piece is stoutly made with thick rims and is quite heavy. The artist we are not sure but the mottled enamel used may point towards Honda. The piece is in excellent condition with just a tiny loss of enamel on the underside of the lid where the knob is attached. It stands 8 1/2 inches.

Antique Japanese Boxwood Persimmon and Chestnut Netsuke, these edible objects arranged together are the charming symbols of the fall season. This bibelot has a softly rubbed and smoothed surface and it's himatoshi has unequally sized holes. Size 1.25"High x 1.25" Wide, Edo Period, circa pre 1850s.

An antique Japanese bronze water pot or ewer decorated and shaped in the style emulating Chinese Shang dynasty bronzes. The tripod leg often is referring to the ding where it was thought that these vessels were used to serve wine. Has a Kanji charactor on base that can be translated to men "to offer".
