A circular form rising to a shallow point at the center, this jingasa is made of hide and cloth shaped in a mold, then finally black lacquered. It is decorated in front with a gold lacquered mon of an enzo which represents eternity. Mounted on a custom iron stand.

14 images spanning two pages each are sandwiched between the silk binding of this two sided accordion album by Zen Priest Inaba Shinden enclosed in the original storage sleeve. The images span from Mount fuji to the Daruma to Zen Circles, each annotated with some verse or Buddhist anecdote. It is in excellent condition, the album (closed) measuring 8-1/4 x 12 inches (21 x 30 cm).
Inaba Shinden (1906-1986) was an important priest of the Rinzai sect of Japanese Buddhism...

A signed, matched, pair of Abumi with a geometric design of interwoven maple leafs. The design has been hand chiselled and inlaid with silver and bronze. The stirrups measure 11" long x 5 1/4" wide x 10 1/4" high, and date to the late Edo period. The maker has inlaid his Name and City on both stirrups and this translate as follows: "Made by Yamada Nagamoto living in Kanazawa". Nagamoto is the seventh generation Yamada chiseller to work at Kanazawa, and he was born in 1810...
