A good, small Japanese cloisonne vase. The alternating dragon and phoenix chevron panels symbolize harmony and balance. Lots of engaging, balanced color. Sparkling goldstone embellishment technique demonstrated in backgrounds below the shoulder and in decorative details around the waisted neck. Ginbari (enamel over silver foil) technique demonstrated around the shoulder with opaque sakura and karakusa decoration floating over the clear red background offset by the underlying foil...

This is Kyogen Hakama which the child of the rich civilian of Kyoto used for the Meiji period. This has the crest that Kyogen is characteristic of the part of the waist. As for this, the whole is dyed with an indigo plant by Katazome. This has several places of thin dirts. And this has several places of extremely small holes. As for this, cotton is thin. This is natural indigo dyeing Shirusi-Hanten made at the beginning of the Meiji period. This gets texture and others by cotton and silk. As for this, cotton and silk are spun by hand. A large dish used for raw fish or shellfish (mukozuke) for the tea ceremony in which guests are served. It measures at 11.75” square x 2” high. This dish is designed in the traditional Japanese ascetic of simple brush strokes and relaxed design; such a dish was not intended for export and does not conform to the Western ascetic of gaudy and over crowded design. A true testament of genuine Japanese tradition. The plate dates to the late Meiji to early Tashio period (1900-20).

A fine and rare MEIJI Period (1886-1912) Japanese 2-piece gold lacquered Cabinet with multiple drawers and fashioned with nice gilt bronze fittings. This is thick hemp Noren of the Meiji period. As for this, words are dyed with black dye. The words are written as Mensa. Probably I think this to be an item of the business to sell noodles. Hand made more than hundred years ago in Iga, a small tow in the mountains of Mie prefecture, famous as the birthplace of Iga ninja.

Items like ours gave big inspiration to one of the worlds famous potter Tsujimura Shiro.

Iga-yaki is a style of pottery where the ceramic is fired at high temperatures causing it to crystallize in a red hue, with brown-grey burn marks caused by log ashes, and the melting effect of the vidro (feldspatic glass)...

This was made in Amagi area in the Meiji era. This cotton was spun by hand. This Shibori was dyed with an indigo plant of nature. It is a swallow and a rainy image.In the small ring of Mame-ire Shibori, size delicately changes for handwork. And the vertical stripe has little rolling. It is a good point and fun of the handwork. This is cloth of indigo dyeing cotton made in Aichi in the Meiji era. It colors the both sides (Ryoumensome) with the same paper pattern. Ryoumensome could use both sides, but the quantity of the work of the dyeing was double. Most Katazome dyes only one side. Because a craftsmAn imitated Shibori of the Narumi district, this Katazome is called NarumiKongata. And Narumikongata expresses delicate rhythm of Sibori smart in Katazome. There are no damage and stain...

This is Noragi used in the Shonai, Yamagata district for the Meiji period. As for this, cotton is used for the warp. And cotton thread and Koyori-Paper colored into a weft with a natural indigo plant are used. It is the item which this is called Denti, and a bride brings in the case of a wedding ceremony. This is Noshime used in a district for the Meiji period. This is woven with silk and cotton. The line of the part of the waist is drawn on this freely by hand. This is Indigo dye Stripe cotton syonai-sashiko noragi Long vest textile of the Meiji era(1868-1912). The sashiko hand stitch is beautiful by very small width.The lining has a little discoloration. However, it is very good condition. It can enjoy both sides. size:83cm (32.6" )

This is indigo dye sashiko noragi naga-hanten of Aomori Prefecture of the Meiji era(1868-1912). cotton seems to be hand spun and woven. All sashiko was stitched by the hand. It is very beautiful.
