$115.00 Japanese Meiji to Taisho period ogi folding fan decorated with a single bird in flight over treetops. Signed at the right and with artist's seal. Late 19th to early 20th century. Measures about 8 3/4" vertical x 18 7/8" across from tip to tip. Very good, clean overall condition with some minor crinkling of the paper at the corners. The paper at the right edge is slightly distressed. From an old New Orleans collection.

Condition: Toning... Sizable Japanese Edo period Buddhist traveling shrine (zushi) with black lacquered wood case and copper metalwork. Two hinged doors open to reveal a central standing carved wood Kannon figure on a pedestal base set against a gilt ground. A round metal halo is behind his head and he wears a metal crown and neck ornament. The interior doors are painted in polychrome with Bodhisattva figures. The case measures 12” high. 19th century. The zushi is remarkably intact and stable for its age...

It has four makie leaves design with silver, gold, red, and dark green color with gold works. Inside Kogo with silver finish. The condition of Kogo excellent, no chip, no crack and no hairline. It does not come with Tomobako, match box by artist, but we will supply wooden box. Dating from after war 1950-1960's.

Enameled with vivid palette of colors, it is in very good original condition. No repairs, hairline, etc. Spurious Chinese mark on bottom reads "Greatest Ming Chenghua Make". Measures 7.75 Inches in diameter by 3.75" high.

$675.00 Unlike many of the pieces in the genre of Kyo-ware, this tea bowl is decidedly demure in appearance. Milky, flowing glaze pools in places along a backdrop of ivory and coral pink sides, contrasting nicely with the rough, unrefined clay of the base. In the center of the kodai is a decorative swirl pattern reminiscent of the yin and yang.
The potter, Kanpu Kawanabe (1873 - 1947) was born into a family of weavers but went on to be trained in many of the arts related to tea ceremony...
