$1,450.00 An antique Japanese Isho Tansu (Kimono chest) made of Kiri (Paulownia) wood. All original hand forged iron hardware and wiped lacquer finish. Comprised of 4 large drawers and a hinged security door housing 2 small drawers where valuables were hidden. A trick secret box was hidden behind the bottom small drawer with access by removing the bottom large drawer and reaching behind the small drawer.
Age: Meiji Era (1880-1890) Dimensions: 35 1/2" Wide by 38 5/8" High by 17 7/8" Deep

$1,450.00 An antique Japanese choba tansu (merchant's chest) made of kiri (paulownia) wood. All original hand forged iron hardware including stylized gumbai handles. Two sliding kiri wood panels framed in black lacquer over two large drawers for safe keeping of inventory. Iron drawer corners feature raised seed pods suggesting this chest originated in the Yonezawa region of Japan.

Size: Oban. 15.25 by 10.25 inches. Reference: Hotei #324. Medium: Japanese woodblock print. Condition: Margins and back are toned. Slight creasing at upper left corner. This is the only print that features Hasui in self-portrait.

Kuro Oribe pieces are the most common with their jet-black glazes and feldspar ornamentation tending towards the minimalistic, abstract; and, some would say, Zen-like aesthetic. While the piece shown here is not entirely typical of Oribe pieces, the black glaze, contrast window, and unmistakable kutsugata shape all point to this genre of Minō pottery...

Shugendo is a unique Japanese religion that combines Buddhism, Shinto and the worship of nature (mountains).
It has some light stains and one very small hole, but is in very good condition.

$1,450.00 A very good and large scroll painting in ink and colours on paper, depicting the Immortal Gama Sennin (Chinese: Liuhai ) the “Toad Hermit”, with the three-legged toad. Gama Sennin is connected to good luck and wealth.
Both Gama Sennin and his toad friend are depicted in a very sweet, humorous manner.
It was probably part of a sliding door, later remounted as a scroll with a very beautiful, high quality brocade...

sold, thank you A beautifully cast bronze dragon waterspout from an ancient Japanese garden in Nara prefecture made to rise over the edge of a water basin, the water trickling out through his mouth. It retains the original bronze pipe and connector, overall, in excellent original condition. The dragon itself is roughly 25 x 13 x 20 cm tall (10 x 5 x 8 inches) and weighs 3.9 kg (8.5 pounds). Including the pipe roughly 50 cm long.

Accented with soft blues and grays hidden among the heavy ash deposit. It comes with the original matching ceramic lid. The urn is 20 cm (8 inches) diameter, 19 cm 7-1/2 inches) tall and in excellent condition.
(Kanzaki Shiho (1942-2018) preferred firing his kiln for ten days, resulting in the rich textures and heavy ash deposits apparent on his work...
