An unusual Japanese 2 section, 6ft mizuya (kitchen buffet tansu) from the Kanazawa region. Constructed with Hinoki (cypress) and Sugi (cedar) woods, with red and black lacquer frame, and Keyaki (elm) burl front panels in reddish brown lacquer. The top of the piece holds a long open compartment behind four sliding panels with bookmatched Keyaki burl hardwood. Below are a center pair of mesh sliding panels with black lacquer wood frame, carved with floral motifs and with decorative iron pulls...

Wonderful medium-sized crater bowl, thinly potted of black clay and with glossy black glaze pitted with craters for volcanic moon-like effect, Signed Lovera; James Lovera (American, 1920-2015) modernist potter. A large Persian textile "Suzani" which literally means "needlework". The cotton cloth is hand-embroidered with complex floral medallions and scrolling work with brightly colored silk thread. These traditional Suzani would be used for headscarves, ottoman covers, prayer mats, wall hangings, and many other uses.

The base stands on feet which have a repouse design of lotus leaves. The top finial and handle is in the shape of a budding chrysanthemum flower. The double door is latched with a flying crane...

Antique Japanese scroll painting of a monkey seated near a blossoming peony. Painted with great expression and much attention to the details of the face, hands and feet of the monkey. Every hair is carefully brushed. Painted in light mineral colors and ink on silk. Bone ends. Signed Mori Sosen (1747-1821) with seal.

Antique Persian Baluch rug, 100% hand woven wool in rust brown, light red, and indigo hues, with repeating geometric motifs throughout. These rugs are hand-knotted by the nomads of Baluch. Baluch or Baluchistan is the area between the borders of Iran, Pakistan, and Afghanistan-- this is why Baluch rugs are said to be a mixture of three different regions.

Antique Japanese pair of silver shokudai or candlesticks Made of repousse silver with motifs of scrolling vines and chrysanthemums. The base and top of each candle stick is lobed in a lotus pod form with scalloped edges.

A large, heavy Japanese bronze temple bell or bonsho, with a handle of dragon heads called a ryuzu, protrusions called chi chi or nyu to improve resonance of sound, the tsuki-za striking panels, and the mei-bun inscription of the bell's history...

A boxwood carving netsuke in a classic mushroom shape with very fine detailing.
Mushrooms are associated with the natural beauty of the forest. They are considered a good-luck symbol. Finding a mushroom is considered to be very lucky and means good fortune is at hand.
This netsuke has the signature mark of Yamada.

A Japanese Tsukioka Yoshiyoshi tryptch "Toin no Akinotsuki" from the "Legend of the Hero and Warrior" series. Autumn Moon at Toin: Flute Player Yasymasa. The print is signed by Toshiyoshi (1839-1892)who is considered one of the last great masters of ukiyo-e. The triptych is a woodblock print with Katada Chojiro, the publisher hand stamped in the left hand corner.

Signed and sealed signed Hōgen Nyosen, one of the names used by Kanō Chikanobu (1660-1728), a leading Kano-school painter of the eighteenth century Edo. (Hōgen means "dharma eye" and Nyosen means "river-like")...

All original beautiful Urushi lacquer finish and hand made iron and bronze hardware including the Warabite handles. Pine and plum blossom Atari (handle backstops) and lock plates featuring a wealthy traveler's hat, Mino (straw cape), Takarabukuro (treasure bag) and Uchide No Kozuchi (treasure mallet)...

Pair of beautifully hand carved dragon temple corbels. Each is made of solid keyaki hardwood and hand carved with great detail. Original pigment can be seen highlighted in red, gold and black tones. Each dragon is twisting and swirling both looking in different directions. These would have originally been mounted up high within a temple shrine...
