Meiji (1868-1912) Japanese Mixed Metal Bronze Gourd Shaped Vase with Birds and Morning Glory

It is 9.6 inches (24.4 cm) tall by 5 inches (12.7 cm) wide. It is 3.8 Lb.

It is in good condition with no chips, cracks, or dents, except repaired at the bottom, missing some flowers, and small spots of oxidation (as seen in the photos).

An interesting Tanzaku Shaped slab of colorful clay mounted onto aluminum hanging hardware by Mihara Ken enclosed in a signed box (carboard) dating from 1996 titled Ritsu. This is one of the best Shounai-Noren used in Shonai, Yamagata area for Edo period. As for the hemp of this item, a delicate thread spun by hand is used.
