This is Dramatic Hagoromo Motif kabuki Uchikake kimono in the late Edo period.(1800-1867) It all is expressed with embroidery. It is wonderful beautiful uchikake kimono. It does not have a stain. It has few small small holes in lining cloth. It has the portion from which slight embroidery separated. However, it is not conspicuous. Its design is bold and artistic! It is really an wearable art! Performed with Ink and pigment on paper with scattered gold flake in a blue silk border with kuwa (mulberry) wood frame and sturdy blue cloth backing. Fully remounted, each screen is 65 x 142 inches (165 x 361 cm). A quintessential Kano style Edo period scene.

The paper is wrinkled and creased with age, and the color worn, exuding a great sense of antiquity. The bold patterns and rich texture of the Edo period brocade border amplifies that feeling. The screen is 22-1/2 x 56 inches (57 x 142 cm) and has a shaped lacquered wood frame retaining antique paper backing with some repairs.

Pair of (1868-1912) Meiji Japanese Satsuma Vase with Geisha & Child Marked

They are 6.1 inches (15.9 cm) tall by 2.5 inches (6.3 cm) wide. They are 0.7 Lb.
