Sino-Japanese War triptych of a naval battle scene at Wei-hai-wei featuring an embattled Chinese ship at the center surrounded by the Japanese fleet. Several final blasts sink the ship and send the Chinese soldiers into the ocean. The black ink signature of the artist is barely visible at the lower right and is possibly Kobayashi Ikuhide (active 1885-1898). The specific date is not filled in on the cartouche, but is 1894-1895. The assembled size is about 27 7/8"H x 14 1/4"V...

Woodblock print by Japanese sōsaku-hanga artist Toshi Yoshida (1911-1995) titled "Irozaki Morning". It shows the beautiful Cape Irozaki, done with soft pastels in the sky as the sun rises in the distance. Waves crash upon the rocks in the foreground, and three ships can be seen leaving port. It is signed and titled in pencil along the bottom, stamped in the corner, and also signed in kanji along the outer edge. Size: 11.25" height, 15" length

Large format (dai-oban) Japanese shin hanga woodblock print titled “Blue Parrot” by Ishikawa Toraji (1875-1964) from the series “Ten Types of Female Nudes” carved by Yamagishi Kazue and self-published by the artist in 1935. The black ink Ishikawa signature and red seal are at the lower right section of the print. Paper: 14 1/2 x 19 1/8" (plate: 11 3/4" x 14 7/8"). Very good overall condition with full margins and silver mica highlights evident...

A rarely encountered Japanese shin hanga woodblock print titled "Fishing Boat" by Ishiwata Koitsu (1897-1987) dated in the left margin December of Showa 10 (1935). The artist's black ink signature and red circular seal are at the lower left corner of the image. This is a first edition impression bearing the Kato Junji publisher's seal in the right margin. Paper size: 10 7/8" x 15 1/2" (image size: 9 3/8" x 14 3/16"). Very good overall condition...
