Japanese shin hanga woodblock print titled "Mt. Fuji From Mizukubo at Evening" by Takahashi Shotei, also known as Hiroaki (1871-1945). Originally published by Watanabe in 1936, this is a post-World War II edition. The artist's black ink signature and red seal are at the lower left. The round 6mm seal of the publisher Watanabe is beside the seal. The paper measures about 10 1/4" x 15 1/4" (image size: 9 1/4" x 14 1/2"). This print is cataloged as #O-17 on the informative website www.shotei.com...

Limited edition Japanese woodblock print by Clifton Karhu (1927-2007) titled "Winter Driveway." Pencil-signed and titled, dated '78, and numbered 19/100 in the bottom margin. Paper size: 12 1/8" x 11 7/8" (image: 9 7/8" x nearly 10"). The print was never framed and is in very good overall condition. There is possibly some faint discoloration to the paper from age. From a Tucson, Arizona collection.

Historically significant Japanese Meiji period woodblock print triptych by Kojima Shogetsu (active circa 1870-1904) illustrating the Emperor and Empress in the imperial carriage on the afternoon of February 11, 1889. The carriage and accompanying procession had just crossed the Niju Bridge and was heading to the parade grounds to celebrate Japan's new Constitution. This was the first time in Japan's history that the Emperor and Empress were seen riding together in the same coach...

Japanese Edo period woodblock print triptych titled "Prospering Pines at South Port" depicting Mitsuuji holding a fan and dressed in a summer kimono covered in Genji incense signs seated on a balcony overlooking pines at Edo harbor. The artist's black ink signature is at the lower left corner of the image and the artist's name/signature is in pencil at the lower right. The left margin also bears the seal of the publisher Unsodo, the carver Okura, and the printer Shinmi. The "gei" watermark is at the lower left margin corner...

Size: Large vertical diptych at 29.0 x 9.625 inches.
Publisher: Bears Tsutaya Kichizo seal on front. This edition published by Adachi (seal on back).
Condition: Slight creasing at top corners. A couple of faint foxing spots near bottom.

Japanese mid-century sosaku hanga woodblock print depicting a horse in a stable by Kiyoshi Saito (1907-1997). Signed in black ink at the lower left and with the artist's red seal above. Unlimited edition dating circa 1960. Paper size: 11 1/2" x 17 1/8" (image: 10 1/8" x just over 15"). The print was never framed and is in very good overall condition and color with full margins. There is some waviness to the paper and a couple of the margin corners have creases.

Japanese Edo period woodblock print triptych by Toyokuni III (aka Kunisada) illustrating a scene from kabuki theater with actors depicting a street vendor selling sake to a young man disguised as a Buddhist monk while a story-teller approaches from the right. Published by Minatoya Kohei in 1852/53. Each panel holds the artist's "Toyokuni ga" signature in a red cartouche with yellow snow, the censor's seals, and the publisher's seal...

Japanese chuban format shin hanga woodblock print by Takahashi Shotei, also known as Hiroaki (1871 - 1945) depicting two figures walking in the snow in the foreground, one holding a parasol walking toward a hut, the second crossing a bridge over a stream. A snow laden tree and torii gate are at the left. Titled "Snow at Ozawa; Torii Gate and a Cottage" the print was published by Watanabe prior to 1930. The title and artist's red Shotei seal are at the upper left...
