Japanese vintage original 12 pc. silverware set with five spoons, five two prong forks, and a butterknife and scalloped spoon. Each piece in the set is stamped on the handle with Martian mark, trademark of Sato Shoji, Japan. Four of the pieces show natural patina from being exposed to oxygen. Included with original storage box marked Espoir on the lid.

The lid has a small sculpture of Shoki, the demon queller standing on top of a rock with crashing waves. The side of the censer are two dragons staring at the central figure. Japanese Meiji period bronze censer or pot decorated in high relief with two opposing panels, one featuring Chinese scholars in a pine grove and a second with an old man and child under cherry trees. Japanese Meiji Period pair of bronze chickens. Unsigned. The cock is laying down and grooming its feathers while the standing hen look on. The hen measures 4" tall, 6" long and 2 1/4" wide. The cock is 2 3/8" tall, 5" long and 2 1/2" wide.

Japanese late Meiji period bronze vase with silver inlaid bamboo decoration on the front. At the bottom of the back is the incised signature of the engraver Mitsunobu. The base reads "Kyoto Kuroda made." 6 1/8" high. Late 19th to early 20th century. Very good overall condition with a nice patina. The silver has not been polished. There is a vertical area on the back that feels slightly flattened, but is barely noticeable.

Bronze dropper (suiteki) representing a chubby guardian lion, called komainu in Japanese or shishi in Chinese.

The komainu is inspired by the Chinese guardian lion shishi, which dates back to the Tang dynasty (581-618). Supposed to repel evil, it appears on both sides of the entrance to the doors or gates of shrines and temples.

The suiteki is a small container used to hold water that is added to the ink stone during the grinding of the ink stick, used for calligraphy...

Japanese Meiji period bronze model of a striped tiger standing on rockery preparing to attack a coiled striking snake. Square form Genryusai Seiya mark to base. Custom lacquered wood stand included.
