An antique pair of Japanese bronze garden temple lanterns with reticulated sides. Hinged door on each lantern allows access to the interior. Four feet allows placement on a stand or pedestal while a top loop allows each lantern to be hung.

Antique round bronze suiban, a shallow tray or bowl to be filled with suiseki or viewing stones, as well as sand and bonsai, signature on the bottom, 19th century. Size: 3.5" height, 12" width

Antique Japanese iron sake server or sakatsugi. The body contains an image of a turtle, a symbol of longevity and used in festive and auspicious occasions. Next to the turtle, although hard to see, is a signature which reads Tosa no Kami Mitsusada, who was a painter from the Tosa School (1738-1806). The image on the sakatsugi is possibly based on a painting by the artist and was incorporated into the design...

A set of three bronze macaques with fine incised detail in their faces and fur. Their postures are a highly naturalistic rendering. The underbelly of each monkey is signed by the famous bronze animalist artist, Genryusai Seiya. Perfect condition. Provenance: Austrian private collection.

Antique Japanese shinto mirror, tenka ichi. This mirror has a tassle tied through a turtle. The central motif is of a turtle over bamboo meeting the beaks of two cranes. The birds and turtle are on a beach with pine trees and bamboo bushes. This mirror would have been placed along with three others at the entrance to a shrine for those entering to see their reflection as they entered. Made of bronze, Edo period (c1800).
It measures 4 5/8" by 1/2" deep.

Antique Japanese shinto shrine mirror. The mirror has a central motif of a turtle meeting the beaks of two cranes. Three baby cranes and a small turtle walk along the beach. The three auspicious symbols of pine, bamboo, and plum blossoms invoke the island of longevity, horaisan. There is an inscription to ward off calamities. This mirror would have been placed on a wooden stand at the entrance to a shinto shrine for the visitor to see their reflection as they entered. Edo period, (c1800)...

Very unusual Ca. 1930 iron lantern in the shape of a Shinto Shrine Drum with the 'mitsu tomoe' (three commas) which symbolized Raijin the god of thunder and lightning. Japanese iron tetsubin, or tea kettle, with finely cast decoration of a bird seated on lifelike branches with berries in high relief. The handled and lid are made from bronze with a flower and orb shaped finial. The side of the tetsubin is signed with 4 character artist's mark.

The This lantern has four panels: the door: a bird, bamboo branch, tree, sun in the clouds. The lid is round with a handle for hanging. The base is round with three feet. The door latches closed.
