Antique Japanese large bronze vase in the form of a round lotus leaf. It sits on top of a smaller lotus leaf on a hexagonal base. Each side of the base has birds in relief flying over waves. Likely from a Buddhist temple. The lotus blooming from out of the mud represents enlightenment.

Cornet-shaped, in bronze with a brown patina, it rests on 3 feet scalloped in foaming waves rising towards a base decorated with other waves. The body is also decorated in its center with an openwork knot of vine branches and bunches of grapes. The neck is widely flared into a floral corolla. Signed Toto Hidemitsu Kansei under the base. Height: 39.5 cm.

Also written,it is from Gyoshin-ji Temple in Omi no Kuni which is the Edo Period Ca. (1614-1868) name for present day Shiga Prefecture next to Kyoto. A 19th century Bronze incense burner int eh shape of a burning Buddhist jewel supported on five legs of curling smoke tendrils, alternating with five looping handles. It is 20 cm (8 inches) tall to the finial, and in excellent condition.

Antique Japanese bronze censer in the form of a monkey. Elongated right arm is holding a ring attached to a chain and another ring for hanging. The monkey's left arm hangs by his side and it's tail wraps around. There is a round door in the back for inserting incense. The smoke would come out an opening in the monkey's mouth. Charming expression. Deep patina.

The box is made of iron embossed with a hammer, the forging work itself is admirable, it presents a particularity rarely encountered in works of this type, in fact the artist sculpted the trunk of the tree hollow in the iron and forged the branches in relief. The inlays are in shakudo (copper and gold alloy), sentoku (copper alloy) in silver and gilded copper. The details are solid gold.
