The two top drawers have wonderful large iron lock plates in the shape of peony flowers with raised flower buds. The corners of each drawer are reinforced with chrysanthemum shaped ironwork. Japanese antique small tansu chest for personal use. Made all of kiri (paulownia) wood. This tansu has 3 large drawers of different sizes and 2 small drawers in the lower right hand corner. Iron hardware includes pierced corner bracing, round lock plate and drawer pulls.

Antique Japanese trunk made of kiri (paulownia) wood with a deep red finish, bordered in black lacquer. Two iron handles are at its sides, a gourd-shaped iron lock decorates the front. The blonde interior has been marked with kanji. Edo age (1615-1867) Size: 22" height, 34" width, 15.5" depth

An antique Japanese merchant money storage box made entirely of Suginoki (Cryptomeria) wood. Single drawer with hand forged iron hardware including the Warabite handle. Used by a merchant to keep coins, IOU's, and yen currency for daily business use. Original iron corner reinforcements adds strength and durability to this box.

An antique Japanese Ko Bo Tansu (personal storage chest with locking bar) made entirely of Kirinoki (Paulownia) wood. Hinged door hides three small drawer behind. Unusual tapered locking bar design. All original finish and hand made iron fittings with Kakute handles.

Contemporary uses include using it as a bedside nightstand or complementing any room as a side table.

Antique Japanese ko tansu (small chest of drawers). The piece is made with Sugi (cypress) hardwood top and sides, while the front is made with Kuri (chestnut) wood, with the original red lacquer finish and black lacquer frame. The piece holds five drawers of various sizes with heavy iron lingzhi form lock plates, and warabite style handles.

The hardware is made of blackened iron and includes 3 round pulls and 2 scroll drawer pulls.

Iron hardware includes semi-round lock plates, drawer pulls, and corner bracing.
