Antique Japanese todana mizuya (kitchen cabinet) made from a beautiful keyaki burl wood in reddish brown hues, with two sets of sliding panels, 8 drawers in varying size, and one pull-out panel with a ring handle. It has a very interesting and unusual form, with slats running down its sides and back. The inside of the top set of sliding panels has an aged sheet of paper marked with kanji. Antique Japanese tansu, made with beautiful all keyaki (elm) wood on the front including sliding panels and drawers of dramatic burl, iron hardware including round lock plates on drawers and warabite shaped drawer pulls, the top portion of the chest has a compartment covered by sliding panels, the lower portion of the chest has three drawers, Meiji Period. Size: 33 3/4" high x 34 1/2" wide x 19" deep.

Antique Japanese tansu made from Keyaki (zelkova) wood with a deep red lacquer and a gorgeous woodgrain. It has a central vertical lockbar with ornate iron decorations over two large drawers, with squared handles. Key included.

Rare Japanese keyaki wood choba tansu with 15 exterior drawers (3 interior drawers) and a locking bar, keyaki (elm) wood front and frame with dramatic grain and lacquer finish, elaborate iron metal wood including moko shaped drawer pulls, locking bar has iron work with bamboo motif, the safe box has a key and the three small drawers on the inside are made all of kiri wood with handles to match the front exterior, Edo Period, Makuni area. Japanese keyaki and persimmon wood choba tansu, beautiful keyaki grain on front with a frame that is edged in persimmon wood, there is a compartment with sliding panels made of solid burl wood with a stepped shelf on the interior, the safe box has a key and two small interior drawers also with keyaki wood fronts, inside the safe box is a very hidden secret compartment (detail shows writing on hidden panel door). Meiji Period. Size: 32 3/4" high x 32" wide x 14 1/4" deep.
