This artist works by creating the body with subsequent applications of variously colored liquid clay, then scoring away the surface to create patterns by revealing the various layers...

A wide low chawan tea bowl inscribed with a poem by Otagaki Rengetsu reading “Yo no naka ha tata utatane no shibaraku wo samenu yume ji ni matofu wari nasa. In the world only for the span of a nap yet wandering an inescapable path of dreams…such a mystery. (Translation from Rengetsu.org). It is 5-1/2 inches (14 cm) diameter, 1-1/2 inches (4 cm) tall and in fine condition.

Shimizu Hian (1883-1975) was a popular poet and painter of the early modern period. He graduated law studies from the prestigious Kyoto University, and took a position in Kobe District Court...

Low tea bowl of irregular round shape. Raku-yaki with red glaze, decorated with black brushed-on spots and white patches, with fine crackle over all. Inside the foot a small area is left uncovered. Japan, Edo period, early 19th century.

Minimal traces of usage, short crack

The cloth textured surface seems to glow warm like the promise of warm days to come, cherries blossoming wide on this sake set by Ito Motohiko enclosed in the original signed wooden boxes. The Guinomi is 7.5cm (3 inches) diameter 3.5cm (1-1/2 inches) tall. The Tokkuri is 9.5cm (just less than 4 inches) diameter, 14.5cm (just less than 6 inches) tall and both are in excellent condition.
Ito Motohiko is a famous Kasama potter, best known for his nunome pattern and exceptional designs...

Antique Chinese celadon bowl. The rim is flared and accented with incised concentric rings which repeat several times closer to the center of the bowl. The widest band and the reserve at the bottom of the bowl are incised with subtle designs possibly floral. The outside of the bowl is thickly glazed with lovely drips and overall crackle. The foot has been left unglazed.

Chinese antique porcelain bowl. Decorated with colorful fruit on a blossoming vine visited by two large butterflies and a pair of bats. The inside of the bowl has a delicate central medallion of a flower surrounded by leaves. The underside is painted with Tongzhi Nian Zhi mark.

Age: Qing Dynasty, Tongzhi (1862-1874)

Chinese antique porcelain vase with another vase inside. The inner vase spins allowing the decoration to be admired through the many round windows in the the wall of the outer vase. Decorated with famile verde glazed bands depicting landscapes, flora, figures and fish.

Chinese Han dynasty (206 BC – 220 AD) pottery jar with splayed neck and everted rim covered overall with an iridescent green lead glaze. Characteristic kiln support remnants are on the base and mouth. 5 1/2" high x about 5” diameter. Very good overall condition. Three kiln kisses are on the side of the jar. This jar is from an Arizona collection. It was purchased in 1996 from Lam’s Gallery in Hong Kong.

From the "Kuang-Hsu" region, mustard colored bowl with blue fish design inside, China, Qing Dynasty (1644-1911); Kuang-Hsu Huangxu mark to the base, Dimensions: Diameter of the bowl is 6 inches and it stands 2 1/2 inch tall, no condition concerns.

Incredibly charming Chinese porcelain pillow, in the form of a baby boy. He has darling features and is signed on the base with an old wax seal.

Perfume fountain in porcelain Imari kinrandé mounted in gilt bronze from the same set of porcelain. The cup and the bowl form the base, the pot covers the perfume container.
Blue under-cover decoration with gold highlights of interlacing lotus flowers. On each of the ceramic pieces, two four-lobed spaces and sides with floral motifs (pine, yellow and red lycoris, carnation, phlox moss, bamboo) and two foxes. Top of the pot with a chrysanthemum pattern...

Chinese late Qing dynasty porcelain bowl with a slightly flared rim decorated around the exterior in two shades of underglaze blue with four stylized lotus blossoms among leafy scrolling tendrils set against a smooth, translucent white porcelain ground. A double blue line encircles both the rim and foot. The interior of the bowl is undecorated. Late 19th to early 20th century. 6 1/4” diameter x 3” high. Very good overall condition with no chips, frits, or cracks...
