A blossom shaped porcelain plate asymmetrically decorated with fruits, flowers and birds above bonsai scissors, in underglaze blue, white, green and gold. The base with blue auspicious character mark. Brown glazed rim. Condition: some wear to gold. Dimension: diameter 21.6 cm and 3.6 cm high.

A striking design rises up the pin-holed surface of this set of Tokkuri with genuine gold repairs about the rim dating from the late 18th to 19th century and enclosed in a period wooden box. They are 2 inches (5 cm) diameter, 6-1/2 inches (16.5 cm) tall.

One Finely formed and decorated Japanese blue and white porcelain dish. The deep, foliate rim fired to chocolate brown along the edge is suggestive of kakiemon influence. Decoration of figure seated in royal ease pose, perhaps Kannon, in rich foliate garden setting centered by repetitive characters (perhaps suggestive of sutra or chants) inside the deep rim. Fine blue and white decoration of a landscape on one panel and particularly fine shades of blue decoration of a flowering prunus branch on another. Karakusa decoration on the back. Shonsui style decoration in roundels of birds in branches with berries and of peonies, all centered by geometric decoration along the inside of the foliate rim. A good, Japanese iroe imari dish of square form with garden landscape decoration in red, green, yellow, aubergine, black and gold enamel and underglaze blue. The center panel decorated with pines, plantains and maples among rockery and below stylized clouds. The rockery employing "master of the rocks" technique of consecutive contour lines - the stylized clouds echoing the technique. Good condition. 7 to 7 1/8 inches square. Large Antique Japanese oribe ware tebachi, or ceramic container with handles. The inside and outside edges are hand painted with scrolling leaves and flowers. Round ribbed body tapers at the foot, thick dripping blue and purple glaze around handles. 19th Century Size: 10.5" H x 16" W

Large original Antique Japanese large low-fire ceramic mask of the Lucky God, Daikoku. His laughing face is round and painted with charming detail to his beards and eye brows. He is wearing his traditional hat that has been hand painted with great detail. One of the Lucky Gods, Diakoku is the God of Good Fortune as well as a god of the kitchen. It is possible that this mask may have hung on the wall in a temple's kitchen...

Antique Japanese noh theatre mask of the character Ko-Omote, a youthful girl. Very unusual that this mask is made of ceramic instead of carved from wood. Beautifully painted with red lips and blackened teeth, joyful eyes and dark hair with four loose strands, very important defining characteristics to tell each mask apart. The backside is signed in-between her eyes and has been affixed with parts for displaying the mask. Edo Period (circa 1800's) Size: 8" H x 5" W x 2.5" D

Antique Japanese ceramic chawan (tea bowl) by the famous artist Otagaki Rengetsu (1791-1875) with a cream crackle glaze and bare foot. The sides of the bowl are inscribed with poetic calligraphy. Includes its own tomobako. Size: 2.5" H x 6" W (entire box) 4.5" x 6.5" x 6.5"

Antique Japanese porcelain maneki-neko, or "beckoning cat", a popular image for welcoming good fortune into the home. They often come in colors such as white, black, or gold. This porcelain statue happens to be in what is considered the luckiest color of calico. Beautifully hand painted with gilt accenting.

An oblong Oribe dish with striated designs by Kato Shigetaka enclosed in the original signed wooden box. It is 10 x 11 inches (26 x 27.5 cm) diameter and in fine condition.
Shigetaka was born the second son of Kato Tokuro in 1927. He graduated the Seto Industrial School of Ceramics and studied under his father. From 1959-1971 submitted annually to the Nitten where he received the Hokusho prize as well as the Modern Ceramics Prize among others...

A large Plate by Living National Treasure Hamada Shoji enclosed in the original signed wooden box titled Mori-sara. Splashes of black supplant the rich red Mashiko glaze. It is 12 inches (31.5 cm) diameter and in fine condition.
Hamada Shoji was born in Tokyo, and enrolled in the Tokyo Technical University at the age of 19. In 1918 he met the important British potter Bernard Leach, and the history of ceramic arts was forever changed...

Dark blue Japanese Kutani moriage waving cat. Signed on the bottom, it is in excellent condition, no chips, no cracks, etc. and measures 10.5" high. Dates mid 20th century.

A book of Yagi Kazuo works (number 203 of 800) dated 1969 with the cover inlaid with a ceramic work signed and dated Feb. 1967. Dozens of photographs of his work dating from the height of his fame as an avante Garde sculptor fill this 100 page book titled Simply “Yagi Kazuo”. The book comes in the original cover which is held inside a cardboard sleeve. The ends of the cover not encased in cardboard have yellowed some with age, but this does not affect the book within.

Japanese Hirado Porcelain Okimono-Daikoku, god figure, Ca. Meiji period, 3 3/4" high, 2 3/4" wide, 2 3/4" deep, with underglaze blue design in some area. The condition is good, no damages, kiln firing mark on the side of barrel.
