A beautiful and skilled painting of a flowering stem , painted in opaque water colour on a deep blue-grey ground. The paper is burnished on the back. India, 19th century or earlier. Approximately 30.5 cm x 17.5 cm. Good condition but a short tear on the edge repaired with tape on the back... Zinc alloy, inlaid with engraved silver geometric patterns and floral bands. Also known as hookah base. Condition: very good considering the age; some pieces of silver inlay are missing. H. 18 cm, Diameter 16,5 cm
Made of a blackened zinc alloy, the engraved silver inlay with floral borders and gardens with animals, birds and palaces. Very good condition with expected age wear. H. 15 cm, Diameter 18 cm.
A rare Kashmir teapot with hinged lid standing on three small feet. The metal base, here copper or bronze, was first engraved with special tools to create the design in relief, the grooves were later filled with glass and then embellished with additional engraving and shiny gilding. This technique is called in India "meena" or "meenakari" and was first applied by the Mughal. With a small handwritten note explaining its provenance. Dimension: 20.8 cm long, 14 cm high, weight: 688 g.
