Antique Indian painting of a holy man seated upon a throne, identified by the halo around his head, a line of followers standing before him. The first man in line bestows a ceremonial gift, painted with gilt pigment. Two men stand out of line with a domesticated jaquar. Arabic writing decorates the top and the bottom of the painting. A newly made 18K. Gold (750) Ring set with an ancient genuine Cabochon Garnet BACTRIAN INTAGLIO carved by hand, depicting a bearded, seated Angel playing a Lyra. Very fine detailed carving. Indian demon chaser mask in bronze repousse from Karnataka in five parts: head, headband, ears and a tube within the head to permit the mounting on a pole. Backside with red paint. Please refer for a quite identical mask to: "Ritual Bronzes of Maharashtra and Karnataka" by Leo S. Figiel, M.D.: Fig. 7-65. Condition: traces of usage, back part of the head and headband with some dents. Dimension: 26.2 cm high.

Dhyangro drums are usually separated from their phurba (ritual dagger) handles, and the handles are sold by themselves. This is a common occurrence with Nepali dealers. This is because the handles are easier to transport and sell. So it isn't very often that you see a completely intact, old Tibetan ritual drum. The drum is made of wood and animal hide, and has shaking balls inside for accenting the rhythms created by the shaman dancer...

Virabhadra, incarnation of Shiva, is often depicted in solid bronze plaques. This one however is remarkably fine, with its delicate openwork. It dates from the 16th century, possibly earlier and was made in West India. It has a warm brown patina and appropriate age wear. There is a very old repair just above the small figure on the left. Height 26 cm (the sculpture), 32 cm including the stand.

Vajradhara or Dorje Chang in Tibetan is the ultimate primordial Buddha or Adi Buddha according to the Gelug and Kagyu schools of Tibetan Buddhism. This fine example is from Tibet or possibly from Nepal. It is well proportioned and has very nice facial features. Please note the fine engraving on the back of the figure. It is in a very good condition with normal age wear, a nice patina and remains of polychrome. H. 23 cm. From a Dutch private collection.

A very rare and early example with its original polychrome and clear traces of long time use. Note the glossy patina on the back of the mask. Two Tibetan bone carvings of dancing Dakinis from a ceremonial bone apron. One Dakini carries a chopper, kapala (skull cup) and a skull scepter; the other holds a kapala in her left hand. Both have large scrolling swirls carved above and below them. The backs have numerous holes for stringing. The bone is probably from a Yak. Period: 18th/19th Century. Size: 16cm & 17cm. W. Both 4cm. Condition: No repairs. cracks or chips.

A beautiful late 19th century bronze kankavati featuring a wonderful warm patina. The box is divided into 6 yoni shaped compartments for sindoor or kukum powder. The peacock finial lifts out and then one or more of the compartments can be opened. In excellent condition, it measures 4 inches in diameter when closed.

Finely engraved small bronze altar of Vishnu with his consorts Shridevi and Bhudevi, cast in five parts. The three gods standing under an arch with a kirthi-mukha at the apex, the base of each figure slotting into the frame. Karnataka / Maharashtra 19th century. From a Swiss lady's private collection. Tibetan Himalayan Heavy large carved wood Manuscript/script Cover, some of the gold and Polychrome finish still remain between low relief carved design, 27 1/2" long, 10 1/2" high, 1 1/2" thick, weight is heavy and one(1) large size of wood panel was used. One end is carved with polychrome and gold finish, and the other end is not carved. There are some yak butter stains on wood, and rounded corners with age. The condition is good, no damage or restoration.
