Chinese Qing dynasty rectangular jade openwork plaque, carved with a design of a deer under a pine tree, mounted into the lid of an early 20th century rectangular silver box raised on four feet. Two-character “chun yin” (pure silver) mark to the bottom of the box. The jade has a pale celadon-gray hue. The box measures 3 1/2" long x 3” wide x 1 5/8” high. The jade plaque is 2 7/8” x 2 1/4." Chinese bamboo caving of Shoulao, the deity of longevity. He is sometimes referred to as the Old Man of the South Pole. His attributes include his large forehead, representing wisdom, and his long beard to show longevity. Shou Lao also holds a long staff and a peach branch to also symbolize a long and prosperous life. Shoulao is carved with a small boy riding a deer, who holds a magic box from which a bat flies out (an auspicious motif) and a crane.

A very rare sancai original, three color, glazed Tang duck cup probably used for drinking rice wine. Three colors with some blue cobalt. Check the closeup photos of the glaze with the natural cracking of the glaze due to long burial. It shows the authenticity of the piece. Size: L.16cm,H.9cm,W.8cm. Condition: Small chip on the rim. Chinese framed rank badge, decorated with a phoenix, applied all over with gilt wrapped thread in scrolling motifs. The phoenix stands on a rock with lingzhi mushrooms, floral scrolls, leaping carp, the rising sun, a flying bat, and bordered by auspicious characters and lucky bats.

The pair of snuff bottles have a hexagonal faceted shape with flattened foot. They are inlaid with iridescent shell floral motifs with dark brown lacquer wood.

Laque burgauté has Chinese origins with examples occurring as early as the Ming dynasty and was especially popular in the Qing dynasty when it was also used to cover unglazed porcelain.

Chinese white jade vase carving of Liu Haichan or "Master Sea-Toad", a 10th century Daoist xian immortal, with a string of square-holed coins and his mythical three-legged money toad. Lotus pods, peonies, birds, and waves are carved all around the body of the jade vase. The base is carved wood into reticulated root pattern.

DESCRIPTION: A pair of substantial, deeply carved Chinese doors originating from Zhejiang province and dating from the early 1800’s, Qing dynasty. These handsome, heavy solid elm doors still have all of their original pegs attached, which would have been set into round sockets at the top and bottom, allowing the doors to be opened and closed.

The top panels are carved with flowers and a repeating swastika pattern, the Chinese character meaning good fortune or longevity...
