Rare Chinese Tang Dynasty Painted Pottery Prostrate Figure with Inscription

Chinese Northern Qi Dynasty Painted Pottery Figure (AD 550 - 577)

This rare and unusual painted pottery figure was made during the Northern Qi Dynasty (AD 550 - 577). It is made from a relatively highly-fired grey pottery that has been "cold painted" in various coloured pigments, very good traces of which still remain. Note the details of the clothing, the headgear, both tied with a bow, and the facial features...

A bronze plaque was found in very good condition.
It was hollow casted with animal fighting scenes.
Nice patina was preserved on the surface.

Date: 2 B.C , Western Han periods.

Dimensions 13.8cm x 10.5cm x 6.0cm.

Similar piece was found in the Yunnan Province Museum.

A Chinese mirror, mounted on the back with a panel of green jade carved with shou characters and the handle with a similar green jade. This small mirror is encased in a gilt and enameled silver frame. Stamped " silver". Age: C. 1900. size: 13 cm long. condition: very good, no breaks, no restoration. provenance: from the collection of Michael Sherrard QC, OBE. ( 1928-2012)

A Rare Dian culture metal work was found in very good condition.

Very rare early 20th century textile from the Mulao ethnic group Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Province. Little is known about these textiles other than they show a close affinity with Maonan weavings and are no longer being woven by this people. This is a two paneled blanket with original border and supplementary weft silk and cotton embroidered pattern of birds, mythical animals and flowers on a cotton field “key fret” pattern...

Glass charm emulating white nephrite Jade inscribed with delicate Arabic verses from the Koran on both sides. This set is in silver with a copper loop to hold on a chord. I bought this in Hong Kong so original provenance is unknown- possibly from the Xinjiang, Turkic Uyghur speaking area. Lovely Qing Dynasty pendant of a monkey on a leaf, “staring at the moon”, carved from carnelian. An unusually fat piece with a rich dark color rarely seen in Chinese carnelian. A Rare 蔡沈Manuscript 書經集傳序 of Song Dynasty was found.
It was in Chinese calligraphy on an old manually made paper.
It is very hard for me to authenticate if it was from Song dynasty or from later dates.
But I would like to present it as an old Chinese calligraphy work of art at least from 19th centuries.

Finely detailed carved bamboo bitong with five panels depicting classic three friends of winter and scholar themes. I bought this in Guangxi Zhuang, in 1995, late Republic period. There is a hole intentionally drilled at the bottom, otherwise excellent condition. H: 13.4cm/5.2in and D: 6.8cm/2.8in.

This rare and interesting pottery figure was made during the early part of the Tang Dynasty (AD 618 - 906). It is made from a grey pottery that is solid (as opposed to being hollow as are the majority of Tang figures) and relatively highly-fired. It has been "cold painted" in various coloured pigments, very good amounts of which still remain. The figure wears a hood and stands alert with his right hand across his chest...

A cast iron beast, probably a tiger. The elongated shape of the animal, the size, the sagging of the back, suggest that it is a brush rest. There are a lot of modern cast iron copies, which may be the case here, but we can certify that this little tiger has been in the Sakura collection for at least forty years, which proves nothing. Sculpture smal but powerfull. Good condition. Length: 85mm The price is depending on the doubt.

Statue of Duowen Tian Wang, the Heavenly King of the North, elaborately dressed, wearing a diadem, holding the end of a ribbon with his left hand and a Buddhist scepter resting on a lotus in his right hand. The statue is standing on an square pedestal. The piece was originally lacquered, painted and gilt. Part of the lacquering is flaked, revealing the bronze oxydation. The statue was cast in China during the early Qing Dynasty, in the 18th century. Height: 37 cm. Very good condition.
