A small Chinese porcelain bowl with the popular "nine peaches" decoration. The peach is the symbol for long life, timelessness, immortality and springtime. Also illustrated on the bowl is a fungus, plum blossoms, and bats, all of which are symbols wishing you a long life. The bat flying around is also a wish for happiness. The bowl measures about 2 1/4" high x 5" in diameter, and dates to the late Ching, early Republic Period...

A great small vase with chinese porcelain blossom trees in white on a black ground. The black glaze is a thick layer with "oil on water" effect. Painted - clobbered - probably in Holland for the European market, in iron red, green, pink, black and gilt over the original under-glaze blue decoration. The base with a pseudo-Chinese seal mark in iron red. Height, including lid "4 1/2/ 11 cm. Condition: repair to the lid (cf. photos), otherwise fine.

A small Paktong Ink Box with engraved landscape decoration, made in China during the Republic period (1912-1949) or earlier. The copper base bears a shop or retailer's mark which reads "Yong Fa Chang". Condition - there are small surface bumps and marks (please view enlargements) and there is wear to the base. 4.4cm (1.75ins) square; 2.4cm (0.9ins) deep.
