DESCRIPTION: This wonderful Chinese bamboo basket is one of the nicest we've ever offered. Pleasing in form and expertly handcrafted, the entire basket is tightly woven from bamboo strips in various sizes, forming a pleasing design. Chinese characters are found inside the removable, cone-shaped lid. Three long bent bamboo strips form the handle. Very attractive and in excellent condition. DIMENSIONS: 24" high including handle (61 cm) x 18" diameter (45.7 cm).

Large Chinese Qing dynasty porcelain wash basin decorated in underglaze blue with leafy vines and sweet pea flowers set against a white ground with a pale blue tint. The exterior holds three flying bats. There are small amounts of kiln grit adhering to the unglazed foot rim. The base is glazed. 13 3/8” diameter x about 4 1/2” high. 19th century. A large Chinese Porcelain censor with blue monochrome exterior and white interior. There are three rounded bumps at the base that represent the three feet of a censor. The bowl measures about 5 1/2" high x 9 3/4" in diameter and dates to the Ching Dynasty. The condition is very good with some interior kiln flaw and glaze crawl. Fabulous Chinese antique bronze Guanyin Buddha statue, Qing dynasty Kangxi period, around 17th century. The Guanyin is sitting on a base, wearing a long robe, two eyes are looking down, holding a bottle.

A large and finely cast Chinese bronze censer and cover modelled as a seated qilin looking back over its shoulder, the unusual saddle-shaped cover with a short funnel for the exit of smoke. Qing dynasty, 18th century. 34 cms high. Good condition with a good old patina.

Two very rare and large Canton enamel vases on the original wooden stands with lovely rich patina and bright well painted scenes of the Chinese goddess Chang'e. These quatrefoil vases enables the owner to change the scenes at will by merely turning the vase to a different panel. This is rare to find in Chinese vases of the period. These date to the late 19th C. One of the stands are inscribed 'China' with a backwards 'N' to help authenticate period...

Large Chinese jade (nephrite) ceremonial piece, in the style of the Liangzhu period (3400-2250 BC), with carvings of faces. This nephrite piece is solid and has a pointed tip, and dpierced hole through its very top. The carvings around its edges look like eyes and may be related to the taotie (roughly "gluttonous ogre mask") motif, which were essentially symmetrical zoomorphic faces with no lower jaw, thought by scholars to be linked to religious ceremony and the afterlife...

A large 10 inch Chinese celadon porcelain plate beautifully painted in polychrome enamels featuring a bird, insects, butterflies, and flowers. The painting was well executed by an artist who had a good eye for design. In very good antique condition, there is one fine hairline measuring .75" or 1.9 cm. and 1 fleabite. Marked on the back, it dates Tongzhi Period (1862-74).

DESCRIPTION: A nice old Chinese toggle carved from a striated wood in the form of two peaches. The peach is a symbol of longevity, and this thick toggle has a wonderful aged patina that only comes from age and handling. Strung with a cord through the holes under the stems, it would have hung from a sash and been used as a counterweight to a tobacco pouch or other utilitarian object. A wonderful example of Chinese folk art, this toggle dates from the 1700’s...
