A pair of two different paintings depicting different views of people either engaged in different activities. One scene appears to show a soldier like figure coming back or meeting a lady and another scene is depicting a family at leisure. Particular elements have elements similar to Chinese theatrical costuming and designs. The techniques are more Western since these works were made in Guangzhou in the Canton concessions. An interesting set of two Chinese Canton paintings depicting two festival scenes that were possibly seen on the streets in China during the Qing dynasty. The top view depicts a figure riding a horse and people are flocking to receive blessings. The bottom scene is showing a theatrical troupe passing by. The painting contains techniques that were brought in from the West in Canton during the 19th century. Age: 19th century Size: Length 15.5" Height 19.75"

This Chinese vase comes from Canton from the end of the 19th century or perhaps the first few years of the 20th century. The shape is termed onion neck for obvious reasons and derives from Delft forms made in Holland in the 17th century. The bright overglaze enamel colors are typical of export wares of the era and the subject matter of boys with balloons containing characters meaning "prosperity" and "good luck".

A large Chinese Canton enamel bowl finely painted with flowers and peaches on a ruby-red ground. The interior with turquoise, the base with white enamel. Late Qing to early Republic Chinese carved agate lidded vase. Colors include a multi color orange, reddish brown and natural tone that was carved with nice details and open work. The lid and vase are nicely hollowed inside. The birds are fly catchers amongst flowers stems and leaves showing some stunning markings. The lid is so neat with another bird nestled in a flowered stem. The surfaces having a superb polish and fine incised details makes the vase a very showy piece...

Antique Chinese carved agate snuff bottle with the image of a monkey siting upon a rock structure and holding an unusual object in his hands. A horse walks below the monkey, with an insect flying overhead. The backside has etched branches growing forth with a butterfly. 19th Century Size: 2.25" height, 1.25" width, .75" depth

Antique Chinese agate carving of a mother bathing a small child. The beautiful whitish stone has translucent areas with ribboning throughout. May have been intended as a brush washer.

Chinese calligraphy brush pot, all hand-carved from bamboo. The low relief carvings depict a group of scholars riding in a boat through a rocky landscape scene with hanging pine branches. The rendering is similar to ink painting. Has subtle silver inlay in the river.

The main side showing figures in a garden setting, the backside with two animal cartouches and a poem in Chinese characters, as well delicately engraved in French and romanized Chinese. Chinese brush pot carved from bamboo with the image of two cranes below a pine branch, with craggy landscape and openwork carved clouds. The signed cartouche reads "Zizhen".

This is a rare and rather unique Snuff Bottle made from Bamboo, and shaped in the form of a double Gourd. It has a flat footing. It is carved in high relief all around, and it depicts monks within a temple, surrounded by trees. A crane making a landing can also be seen. Well established cavity. Excellent rich patina.
