She bought what materials were needed for the vamp and supplemented with the use of rough home spun fabric scraps to cover the shaped heals and soles. The limited amount of expensive gold couching threads outlining the floral embroidery pattern on each side of the shoes indicates that this pair of lotus shoes would have used only for special occasions...

A small enamelled copper box, the cover depicting a grasshopper or cricket amongst grasses and flowers. The base carries a "CHINA" stamp which dates it to post 1890. Chinese black silk embroidered panel with a very finely rendered butterfly over a peony. The small bright orange embroidery is the forbidden stitch. Being depicted as a scholar with flouring robe and a official hat, the figure was in casual mood by resting his arm to the stool beside him.

Description:

A bronze water basin was inscribed with poems and carved with beautiful scenery on the surface.
The inscriber was Pu Ton, A sibling of the last emperor of Qing Dynasty Pu Yi.
Pu Ton was also a famous scholar of late Qing to early Republic periods.
This bronze piece was cast in thin wall but was kept in very good condition with darken patina on the surface.

Date: 1924, by the Chinese lunar date JiaZi inscribed before the poem...
