Chinese late Qing dynasty Guangxu period multi-lobed wedding collar embroidered in polychrome silk thread with flowers, birds, insects, and small animals on a silk ground. The collar is composed of two layers of streamers, with shorter red narrow streamers lightly stitched onto longer white streamers which terminate in ruyi heads. A very rare yab-yum bronze from the end of the 19th. century ( Qing Dynasty 1644 - 1912 ), acquired for the van Norten collection in the early 30's of the last century in Sichuan showing the male deity in sexual union with his female consort. Yab-yum means Tibetan literally 'father - mother'.

A small Chinese inkstone carved from a Duan like stone. The inkstone is carved to portray a landscape view with the basin area of the stone to form a pond or lake. Often Chinese inkstones will allude to literary themes for scholars to enjoy. Age: 20th century Size: length 2.6" width 2.2" height 0.8"

This is a fine bronze Buddhist votive shrine from the middle of the 19th. century ( Qing ) continuing the tradition of the Northern Wei Dynasty. The shrine has four splayed legs cast with an inscription and is cast in relief with a seated figure of Buddha.

DESCRIPTION: A long, six-sided Chinese ink stick with nicely detailed dragon and phoenix curling about the surface. Short, impressed Chinese inscriptions are found on two sides. One of the four treasures of the scholar's studio, ink sticks (or cakes) would be carefully ground by the scholar and mixed with water on an inkstone to paint calligraphy or scrolls with a brush. This black ink stick is in good antique condition. DIMENSIONS: 6 1/2" long (16.5 cm) x 1 1/4" diameter (3.2 cm).

Tall Chinese hardwood cabinet in two sections, elaborately carved all over with scenes of eight dragons in light color wood on dark hardwood ground carved with swirling clouds, rocks and waves. The sides of the cabinet are also made of dark hardwood and carved with scrolling key fret motif. Brass hardware is incised with matching key fret and chimera designs. c. 1950. Beautiful Chinese antique large black lacquered cabinet, painted with charming scenes of figures in a mountain pavilion setting, the upper portion of the doors are painted with scholar's objects, the edges are painted with Shou symbols and butterflies, the interior of the cabinet has a shelf with two small drawers, early 20th century. Size: 71 3/4" high x 44" wide x 23" deep.

Chinese porcelain plate finely painted in Qianjiang enamels, showing a temple in a hilly landscape. Dated, inscribed and signed Tinghui (apparently Fang Tinghui, active late 19th century). The base with four character mark "Zhushan rui pin". Condition: fine, only gilt rim and blue enamel with little wear. Dimension: diameter: 22.6 cm, 3.8 cm high.
