Chinese Ming Dynasty Glazed Pottery Cabinet (16th Century)

A pottery model of a tall wooden cabinet made during the 16th century (c.1550 - 1600). Made from a hard creamy-white pottery and coated in a green glaze that has, in places, acquired a silvery iridescence, a result of very long exposure to moisture. The details suggests this is a model of a cabinet that would have had two opening doors above which are three drawers.

This attractive pear-shaped vase was made during the Southern Song Dynasty (AD 1127 - 1279), most likely at one of the kilns in Fujian province. Interestingly it is made in several sections that have been luted together. The mid section is decorated with a scrolling lotus blossom pattern, below which is a repeating lotus leaf pattern. It is coated in a finely-crackled greenish-blue qingbai glaze that stops short of its foot...

Chinese Song Dynasty Qingbai Glazed Porcelain Bowl with Incised Decoration

This deep porcelain bowl was made in the Song Dynasty (AD 960 - 1279) during the 12th - 13th century. The inner surface is decorated with swirling incised / combed patterns. It is coated in a finely-crackled pale blue qingbai glaze, save for the small flat base that remains unglazed. The glaze is uneven and is a little stained in places suggesting it lay alongside a rusting iron object during its long burial...

Rare image of a Qilin Chinese "unicorn" with stunning deep aquamarine Qingbai glaze. This is a fragment of a much larger piece, possibly a finial off a censer. H: 9.5cm/3.9in, W: 7cm/2.8in x 4.5cm/1.8in. The sculpture is in excellent condition, there is a film of hardpacked soil in the crevices which can be (see enlargements), this can be removed with a small blade with a bit of effort, soaking it in water for a week or so will help. I am leaving it on as it speaks to the age of this piece...

Chinese Tang Dynasty Painted Pottery Zodiac Figure - Goat

This pottery figure was made during the Tang Dynasty (AD 618 - 906). It takes a human form, other than the head which is of the zodiac animal represented, in this case the goat. The figure stands upright with hands clasped together against its chest under a flowing robe. It is made from a reddish pottery that has been cold-painted in a base coat of white on top of which are traces of orange and black pigments.

Very rare Tang Dynasty (618CE to 907CE) terra cotta wall tile depicting the face of a Zhemushou, a fierce guardian earth spirit meant to ward off evil. It is a trapezoidal shape with much of original red and black pigments intact. Some loss to the lower lip (please see enlargements). Lower W: 19cm/7.8in, upper W: 16cm/6.1in and H: 20cm/9in.
