This fine-quality porcelain bowl was made during the Song Dynasty (AD 960 - 1279). Its thin body is particularly translucent when held against a light source. The inner surface is decorated with incised floral patterns and it is coated in a pale blue translucent qingbai glaze of very good colour... This pottery model of a saddled horse was made during the Tang Dynasty (AD 618 - 906). It is "heavily-potted" and made from a reddish pottery. The horse stands alert with its head head up. The surface has been "cold painted" in a reddish-brown pigment with details picked out in red, black and white pigments. Height 28 cm... Large Chinese Neolithic Painted Pottery Jar - Machang (c. 2300 - 2000 BC)
This large and impressive pottery jar was made over 4,000 years ago during the Machang Phase (c. 2300 - 2000 BC) of the Majiayao culture, also known as the Gansu-Yangshao culture, from present day Gansu or Qinghai province. The pottery is an attractive pale orange/brown colour and it is relatively highly-fired. It is quite "heavily-potted" with a well-rounded body, two sturdy loop handles and flared mouth... Chinese Qing to Republic period porcelain lion dog seated with an open mouth revealing ferocious teeth and a well-formed protruding tongue, covered overall with a golden amber glaze. 8 1/2" high x about 8" long. Early 20th century. An old price tag is adhered to the unglazed base. Very good overall condition with possibly a tiny loss or production flaw to the side of one tooth. From a Paradise Valley, Arizona estate.
