A large heavy bottle vase depicting two confronting five clawed dragons amongst clouds and flames and above breaking waves. The base carries the six character seal mark of the Qianlong Emperor (1736-1795)but possibly made later during the 19th Century. It arrived in the UK before 1910 and is from an old West Country estate. Condition - the neck has been reduced and polished. Chinese blanc de chine porcelain statue of Quan Yin, the Buddhist bodhisattva associated with compassion. Her name is short for Guanshiyin, meaning "Observing the Cries of the World." She is seated upon a large wooden seat and wears a gorgeous cascading robe with strands of beads adorning her torso and legs. In her right hand she holds the branch of a willow tree. The breast of the robe has a large, beautiful phoenix with cascading feathers in light pink, grey, gold, and off white, with pink forbidden stitching around its face.
