A well-carved nephrite jade plaque depicting a coiled, sinuous dragon paired with a phoenix and spiral-incised "bi" disc. The phoenix and "bi" disc have been covered with a gold lacuer gilding. Intricate, flowing spiral decoration covers the dragon's body and the disc. The piece measures 3-3/4" end to end and is, as best I can tell, made entirely without the use of modern cutting tools...

This is an authentic nephrite bead from the Warring States period decorated on all four sides with a meandering design, bracketed by inverted "t" shapes. It measures some 3-1/4" in length and is perforated it's entire length, suitable for suspension or wearing. Some calcification is noted.

This is an example of a well-known type of Neolithic jade ornament from the Hongshan culture. The piece is of a pale green nephrite with brown inclusions and some minor calcification. You are considering a rare and beautiful Archaic Chinese Jade Scepter or Tablet, "Gui," dating to circa 2000BC. The piece measures 7.5 inches (18.5cm) in length and is, as one would expect, carved (drilled and polished) entirely by hand. As the photos will show, the stone is predominantly a gray-green nephrite, with some areas of darker brown. There are "striations" visible on the surface, which may indicate that the piece had been wrapped in a cloth/textile, which left an imprint...

You are considering a massive neolithic nephrite jade ritual (votive) axe, weighing one pound 10 ounces and measuring 6-1/4" in length by 2-1/4" in width and 1-1/4" in thickness (16cm X 6.5cm X 3cm). Predominantly green in color (celadon), there are extensive black and brown areas, indicative of a stone with a large iron content. Rough at one end, the piece tapers to a pointed edge (not especially sharp). Massive in feeling with a great presence. Guaranteed to be ancient...

This is an authentic neolithic nephrite jade adze/chisel, measuring some 9" (22cm) in length and 1" (2.5cm) in width. A heavy, substantial piece, guaranteed ancient. The stone is a beautiful deep green with substantial dark inclusions. The tapered end shows apparent signs of use.

An authentic example of a shape that one only rarely encounters, described by Rawson as "scoop-shaped" in her authoritative book on Chinese jade. A similar example in a darker stone is illustrated at page 115 (illustration 1:1). That piece is described as originating with the "Chahai" culture (Liaoning) and is dated to 4000-3500BC. This piece, as with the one published by Rawson, also has a curved cross-section and is drilled from both sides. The stone is a speckled light green...

This is a large and heavy ancient Chinese nephrite scepter or adze.Measuring slightly more than a foot in length, the piece has two beveled ends, suggesting that it may have been intended for actual use, as opposed to a ritual item. As you will see in the photographs, there is a shallow groove that runs the entire length of the piece, possibly for attaching or securing some sort of handle (?). The stone itself is a mottled green and brown nephrite. Guaranteed ancient.
