This is a diminutive portrayal of a crowned Buddhist figure, most likely a Bodhisattva, dating to circa the 6th century AD, Northern Qi dynasty. Note that the nose and areas of the forehead are darker than the rest of the stone, indicating that they have been rubbed by the hands of worshippers over the centuries, creating a "sweat stain" darkening of the stone...

An authentic marble stele fragment depicting an Apsara, measuring 4-3/4" in height by 3-1/2" in width. The carving is very well done and the details are crisp. The surface retains its original patina. A very fine example, mounted on a custom stand (the base of the sculpture has been drilled with a hole to accommodate the shaft). A marble sculpture of a disciple was well done in 5th/6th of Northern Qi periods.
He was part of a big shrine.
A debris as this one can till be a treasuring piece and being used as a paper weight.

Description:

A limestone stone carving was well performed by sleek cutting edges.
A crouching lion on the top, the stone weight was an original isolated piece as we can believe.
Most of the surface was calcified into grayish white tint.
It was an obvious characteristic for a stone piece what had been stored in a seal-up chamber, maybe under a temple.
The true color of the stone was revealed underside in darken tint...

A rare wooden Buddha in a seated position on a lotus pedestal. The face is serenely contemplative and the robe is carved to show the gathered folds. Wooden Buddhas from this period are very difficult to find. This Buddha has a natural, calming presence.
