17th/18th C Chinese hardwood carving of Quan Yin. Beautifully carved with nice elegant lines, this statue has a wonderful patina than only comes with time. In very good condition there are a few age cracks which do not affect the integrity of the piece. There is some glue residue on the bottom where she was attached to an old lamp base. Measures 11.5" high, 4.75 inches across, 3.75 inches deep

A fine carved boxwood figure depicting Avalokitesvara, Guanyin Pusa in Chinese, the Bodhisattva of Compassion reclining on an armrest, holding a scripture roll in one hand. Well carved from a single piece of boxwood, good details and fine patina. H 20 x L 13 x W 9 cm ca. Condition: minor repairs/filled and minor losses as well as a few thin drying cracks. A wood Bodhisattva was nicely carved and was well preserved in very good condition.
In metal-sheen-like patina, the wooden deity was depicted in serene mood by well carved features.
A portion of the base was missing, an old defect.

Date: Early Ming periods, 14th/15th century.

Description: An ancient wood Buddha was from Yuan Dynasty. Preserved well with original lacquered paint, the figure was in seating posture with serene atmosphere. By sleek carvings, the facial composition the wearing robe and the lotus pedestal were finely depicted as a mature traditional religious sculpture. Wood sculptures in this date were rarely found, especially when the ancient mood was kept so well by the natural condition...

A rare wooden Buddha in a seated position on a lotus pedestal. The face is serenely contemplative and the robe is carved to show the gathered folds. Wooden Buddhas from this period are very difficult to find. This Buddha has a natural, calming presence.

Condition: The wood has shrinkage and cracks from age. The right ear and fingers of the left hand are missing...
