Very rare Tang Dynasty (618CE to 907CE) terra cotta wall tile depicting the face of a Zhemushou, a fierce guardian earth spirit meant to ward off evil. It is a trapezoidal shape with much of original red and black pigments intact. Some loss to the lower lip (please see enlargements). Lower W: 19cm/7.8in, upper W: 16cm/6.1in and H: 20cm/9in.

Rare Five dynasties yue ware celadon large incense burner, good condition with small damage restoration on lower rim and near foot ring, good glaze please picture for detail size: 17 cm diameter 10.5 cm height.

This is an intact and very fine example of this ware which, to me, seems to incorporate a human torso, standing with arms and legs akimbo. The colors are quite vivid, with an aubergine purple in addition to the black outlining. The piece is well and thinly potted, standing some 7" in height.It swells out to some 7" in diameter, measured across the area of the two rings ("lugs").
