No chips or cracks but there are areas where the glaze from another piece had fallen onto it during firing- the "wabi sabi" is strong in this one, suitable for a Japanese Tea Ceremony. Chinese late Qing dynasty sang-de-boeuf (oxblood) flambé glazed cylindrical form censer. The oxblood glaze drips inside at the rim above the thick off-white glaze lining the interior. The censer rests upon vestiges of three small tripod legs. The base is unglazed and has burnt orange. As is typical of late 19th century examples, the base shows evidence where the glaze ran off the base and was broken off the kiln supports. 7 3/8” diameter x 5 1/2” high. Very good overall condition...

The bowl is accompanied by its cup, its lid and its spoon constituting a complete set of 4 pieces which is extremely rare. In addition, the 4 porcelains are in good condition except for a little chip. The edge of the cup (saucer) was slightly deformed during cooking and took on a silver-gray shade as can be seen in the photos...

A large, Museum Quality pottery figure of a male attendant carrying a fan or a book under his arm. The figure dates to Ming Dynasty, 1368-1644 AD.

The figure is placed on a large Lotus throne on top of high hexagonal plint, both in fine Sancai colours - a two-colour green and yellow glazed robe.

He wears a high hat. Finely painted facial details. Lotus thrones are very rare for Ming pottery figures...

Rare Chinese Eastern Han Dynasty Decorated Glazed Jar

This very rare and unusual pottery jar was made during the Eastern Han Dynasty (AD 25 - 220). It is made from a red pottery and very attractively decorated in both green and amber glazes. The green glaze has a matt finish whereas the amber glaze is mostly glossy, although its colour and appearance does vary in places according to its thickness and, probably, uneven conditions in the kiln during firing...
