Set of wooden charm with Somin Shorai's name (ref. 'Somin Shorai' - https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Somin_Sh%C5%8Drai) and the sutra with myriads of 'Hail Amitabha Buddha' in Japanese, originally acquired from the dealer from Tohoku region. Early-mid 20th century, Japan. Charm: H 20cm (7.87in), Sutra: 41 x 16.5cm (16.14 x 6.49in). Aged deterioration as is.

This is a Japanese antique tsutsugaki big furoshiki indigo dye cotton. The traditional and very auspicious design of bamboo, plum, and scales is very beautiful and impressive.There are 5 pieces of cloth sewn together. Natural indigo dyed hand spun cotton. An antique Japanese Kansai Mizuya Tansu in 2 sections made of Hinoki (Cypress) and Keyaki (Zelkova) woods. Upper section features two sets of sliding doors with a set of 5 side by side drawers. Bottom section has 2 large sliding doors that open to a spacious storage area behind. Constructed using Japanese mortise and tenon joinery. Drawer handles are Hikute style made of hand forged iron.

Bronze sculpture representing an owl on a tree stump covered with ivy. The owl, detachable from its base, has shakudo eyes. It is certainly an Ryûkyû scops owl (Otus elegans), present in the south of Japan in Ryûkyû Islands.

Polychrome bronze statuette of a group of mice around a pumpkin and a pomegranate. The five mice have a dark brown patina, while the hollowed-out gourd is dark brown and the split pomegranate is dark red.

Written in a cartouche on one of the pumpkin slices, "Shôsai Foundry" (正齊鋳, shôsai-chû).

This pottery jar with cover was made during the Western Han Dynasty (206 BC - AD 8). It is made from a fairly high-fired fine-grained grey pottery that has been elaborately "cold painted" in various coloured pigments, including blue, a colour rarely seen on Han pottery. The pattern comprises a geometric design around the neck and a swirling cloud pattern around the waist, between wide bands.

Pair of Rare Chinese Sui / Early Tang Dynasty Pottery Ladies

These fine and very rare pottery ladies were made during either the Sui Dynasty (AD 581 - 518) or the early part of the Tang Dynasty (AD 618 - 906). They are made from a fine-grained grey pottery and are particularly well-detailed; note the detail of the faces, the hairstyle, the folds of the clothing with the very long sleeves. Two characters with bird beaks serving as incense holders. They are in sandstone covered with lead glassures of three colors (sancai), yellow, green and manganese, these models also have a part enamelled in white. Models with animal masks are much rarer than those with human faces and probably represent the animals of the zodiac. Good condition, almost not worn, a broken and glued head visible on photos. The glassure is finely cracked. Height: 325mm. Chinese work probably 17°, but maybe before.

This is another rare offering as we have never seen anything like this piece before. The piece has a beautiful mix of butterflies and flowers with a gradation of tones throughout the body. It is not signed and likely could have be made by one of these artists, Hattori, Sosuke, or Kumeno. With the lid on, the jar stands 20 1/2 inches.
