Chinese blanc de chine porcelain figure of Quanyin, the bodhisattva of compassion. Her delicate expression with lifelike detail, pierced nostrils and ears, and carefully incised hairs, her crown depicting the Amitabha Buddha, her flowing gown draped over her form, her hands clasped together holding a small vase with the elixir of life, the vessel tipped over so the waters may wash away the suffering of the mortal world. The interior of the figure is hollow from underneath.

A Chinese B&W storage jar decorated with ladies playing a game in a garden, surrounded by children. Marked with an Artemisia leaf. Kangxi period (1662-1722). In the 19th century the silver mounts were added by an unknown Dutch silver smith. Hallmarked with the 'old sword'. This item is in a very good condition., with only a minor glaze chip to the mouth rim. H. 12 cm.

Wonderful and important chawan: rounded wan-shaped tea bowl with high foot of the bamboo node style in the typical O-Ido shape. The light, little coarse clay with enclosures is expertly thrown and full glazed - including the foot - with a transparent glaze of wood ash with some feldspar. The glaze shows attractive shrinking (kairagi) in the lower half of the bowl. It shows discoloration from green tea, a sign of many years of careful use.
