An old white jade carving of a mystical dragon

White wisteria (fuji in Japanese) drape from the gilded rim of this Kutani vase signed from the pre-eminent Kaburaki (Kaburagi) studio dating from the opening of the 20th century. The imagery is exquisitely performed with over-glaze enamels on a pastel gray ground. The vase is large at 13 inches (33.5 cm) tall, 8-1/2 inches (22 cm) diameter and is in excellent condition, with some wear to the gold rim.

Antique Japanese choba tansu (merchant's chest) made with Keyaki (elm) burl front hardwood and hand-forged iron hardware and plating. The merchant's chest holds two drawers over a sliding pair of panel doors with open compartment inside. Below this are seven small and two large drawers, each with "warabite" shaped pulls and decorative iron corner hardware. The original finish compliments the dramatic, natural burl grain.

Incredibly intricate and detailed Antique Chinese table carving made predominantly of zitan wood. Deeply carved with detailed dragons and clouds on one side, phoenixes on carved lattice on the back. Dramatic hexagonal shape on intricately carved stand. Some losses but overall great condition.

A rare large carved, nicely-striped translucent agate bead is featured in this beautiful necklace with 13 carved natural agate beads and 10 gold beads all from the same period. The smaller ochre-colored beads are ceramic beads of the same period. Antique Chinese pair of stone temple fu dogs. These fierce guardians would have been placed on either side of the entrance to a Buddhist temple in order to ward off evil spirits. One statue has its mouth open and the other mouth is closed, a symbolic trait to represent the in-and-out breathing of life and the sound of “om.” Heavy in weight.
