$275.00 A pair of antique Japanese candlesticks dating to the Meiji period 1868-1911. The stands are made of copper and measure about 17 1/2" tall x 5 1/2" in diameter, across the weighted bottoms. The stands have been engraved with an assortment of family mons, both on the bases, and up the sticks. The condition is very good. There are no dents or broken pieces, and a dark patina has developed over the years. The asking price includes shipment within the USA.

Rough plaiting but quite charming, the top of the lid has worn through- only the second of this style of plaiting, I have encountered over many years. H: 28cm/10.2in and W: (at base) 16.2cm/6.5in. The Kura
sold, with thanks! A large white bronze Koro by Tsuda Eiju exhibited at the 14th Nitten in 1982. It is published in the catalog for that year, and comes with the Nitten card upon which it is pictured. The creature is 45 cm (18 inches) tall, 30 cm (12 inches) wide and in excellent condition. Tsuda Eiju (1915-2001) studied under Tsuda Shinobu (1875-1946) eventually becoming his heir. He was accepted into and awarded at the Nitten National Exhibition many times including the Hokutosho prize.

Seal at left margin. Artist's signature at lower right. Medium: Japanese woodblock print. Condition: Very good with inky area at upper right corner and one dot in left sky. Silver alloy opium box, lavishly decorated on all its sides with relief designs representing a nobleman with his servant in a park, flowers, birds (on the lid), and two inscriptions. Partly erased artist mark beneath. China, 19th century. Height: 6.2 cm. Very good condition.
