Japanese Meiji Period bronze vase. The vase has a poet on the front and bamboo and plum blossoms on the reverse. The handles are done in the shape of stylized elephant heads. Beautifully done with gold, silver and SHAKUDO inlays. Unsigned. The vase measures 13" tall and 8" wide at the handles.

Japanese Edo Period carved wooden mini KANNON and attendants. The carved and painted KANNON, attendants (8) and hillside are beautifully done with great detail and expression. The hillside measures 9 1/2" tall, 9" wide and 7" deep. There are suppose to be 12 attendants but only 8 remain.

This old Japanese Noh theater mask has the expressive face of an old man. The mask is carved from paulownia wood and dates to middle Edo period, around 1750. The patina is wonderful.

Small bronze Indian votive sculpture of the elephant headed Hindu god Ganesha, known as the Remover of Obstacles, beautifully intact with all four arms holding attributes including his goad or ax and sweets of which he is sampling with his trunk, wonderful detail and form with elongated head, covered with vermilion remnants, 19th century. Two very unique and richly painted Chinese porcelain hat stands of the late 19th century. Charming scenes of the traditional family relaxing in an open garden setting, the garments are painted in various bright colors against a backdrop of nature. Condition is excellent with no hairlines or chips, just some minor rubbing of the gold trim and very trace fading of the details, yet all details are distinct and complete. A rare 18th/19th Century carved agate snuff bottle with, possibly later, silver and rose quartz stopper. On the stopper is inscribed the Shanghai silversmiths "Wen Yuan" who are recorded as having traded from the Jiaqing (1796-1820) reign through until the Republic period (1912- 1949). Condition - excellent - there is a shallow chip on top, next to the mouth (please view enlargement 11) no further damages and no restoration. 5cm (2inches) high; 4.8cm (1.9 inches) wide.
