Antique Chinese vase with a raised water dragon on both front and back. Faceted sides are decorated with auspicious symbols. The sculpting of the dragons and other motifs is very 3 dimensional. The vase is glazed yellow, white, and aubergine on a rich green ground. The bottom of the vase is incised with the word "China". This was a requirement of all Chinese porcelain imported into the United States as early as 1890 and in accordance with the Stamp Act of 1894.

An antique Shigaraki jar created and fired in this famous kiln region of Japan that was heavily potted. The skin shows the characteristic pock marks and imbedded fieldspar with a natural ash glaze.
