A fine genuine ANTIQUE THAI BENJARONG BOWL, late 18/19th Century, specially made to order in China (Famille Noire) by the Thai Royalty/Court and Nobility, depicting Polychrome Siamese Norasingh and Thepanom Angel Figures on a Black background. The inside of the bowl is Emerald Green with a Center Medallion. Benjarong/Bencharong means 5-colours in Thai language. Good condition, no hairline or restorations! Size: 6.8" diameter x 3.2" height (17.25 cm. x 8 cm.). Rare.

The inside is emerald green with flower decor and a center medallion, whereas the outside depicts 4 alternative Norasingh and Kinaree figures on a Famille Noire background. Size: 17.1 cm. diameter x 8.9 cm height (3 1/2" x 6 3/4". Good condition, with 1 firing hairline on top rim, hardly noticeable, except upon close inspection. Rare size and item!

Exceptionally rare early 20th century small, complete betel box with za-yun pattern, emulating English embroidery stitching. There are some cracks on the lacquer surface as well minor losses on the edge (especially on the inner box) all visible in enlargements. Good Kayan Orang Ulu gawai rice festival ceremonial mask, circa 40 years old, from Sarawak. I bought this piece in Kuching, Sarawak in 2003. Used only twice a year for rice planting and harvesting festivals (gawai), these gatherings were usually a good excuse for a party and celebration to encourage the spirits to ensure a good harvest. H: 25cm/9.8in and W: 16cm/6.2in.

Rare collection (5 pieces) of pottery tobacco pipes used by the Rau/Brau people. These were acquired in Laos quite a few years. Most likely fired at the Yixing Kilns, in Jiangsu Province- the same place that made opium pipe bowls. These would date from late 19th century to first half 20th century- the ones with reddish clay being the oldest. They have some small chips consistent with old tribal pieces...

Antique bronze hand of Buddha on wooden stand. Hand displays the Abhyaya Mudra, the have-no-fear gesture representing peace, benevolence, and reassurance. Beautiful long tapered fingers. Patina consistent with age.
