DESCRIPTION: An attractive Asian fishing creel, fashioned from woven split bamboo with wood base and neck, and an attached tightly woven string for hanging. A creel is used for carrying fish or blocks of peat moss which function as an evaporative cooler when dipped into a creek, keeping the catch chilled. This type of creel with a woven, partially open top can also be used to catch lobsters and other crustaceans. Good condition with a nice aged patina...

A Fine and genuine SONG Period, SAWANGKALOKE-SISACHANALAI, SIAMESE-THAI CELADON JARLET, 14-15th Century, with 2 intact shoulder loops. It also has incised ringed ribbing towards the top. The foot remains unglazed. Good condition, no chips, no cracks, no hairlines, nor restorations/repairs. Size:height ~11 cm x width 9 cm (~ 4.5" x 3.25").

Genuine antique Shan lacquer box circa late 19thCE. Most Burmese lacquer being offered on the internet purported to be antique are vintage at best and new at worst. I acquired this in Yunnan, China along the Burmese border but of Shan (nationality in China). Although there is some damage the craftsmanship is exquisite which is why I put a grain of sand in a couple of the images to put the work into perspective...

Large Sawankhalok covered box from 14th-16th century with ribbed lid and base & blues and browns in under-glaze with clear design. There is visible damage to the inside rim of base and to the lid. Nice old red and black lacquered Cambodian “siri” box, with lovely incised scrolling fern pattern This piece predates the Khmer Rouge regime and circa 60 or 70 years old. In good condition, there is no significant damage other expected signs of use and wear and the lid is a bit warped...

Although not very clear, round the lower inner surface there appears to be a floral (?) pattern using a glaze-resisting method. There is an unglazed stacking band around the centre, the centre appearing the be coated in a thin yellowish wash...

Rare Vietnamese 14th Century Green Glazed Stoneware Dish

This rare and interesting shallow bowl / dish was made during the 14th century. It has a raised "lotus-petal" rim and is coated in an apple-green glaze, save for a broad unglazed stacking ring around its centre. The glaze is somewhat uneven, with runs in places, its colour varying according to its thickness. The glaze is lightly crackled.

Finely woven Iban women’s kain skirt, circa 1940 with “eye of the green pigeon” and bamboo pattern, from the Kapit area, Sarawak, Malaysia. Fine and tight weaves like this, indicate that owner was from a high status. There is one repair noted in enlargements. This ikat is made from all handspun and natural dyes while the colored bands are commercial thread. L: 115cm/42.5in and W: 57cm/22.5in.
