A 19th Century Korean kitchen jar for the storage of honey or syrup. The jar has a thick brown glaze, that thins at the edges of the cut facets, showing the lighter porcelain body of the jar. The Jar is heavily potted and measures about 4 1/2" high x 5" in diameter. The condition is very good with small chips on the inner rim and firing cracks at the bottom. There is no lid. A large heavy Korean brass bowl or tray that was used to carry smaller bowls of rice and vegetables to men working in the fields. The bowl was wrought to shape, and it shows the evidence of being hand pounded. The Bowl measures about 3 1/2" high x 13 1/2" in diameter, weighs about 3 1/2 pounds, and dates to the early 20th Century. The condition is very good with only minor surface tarnish and corrosion. It was the custom in Korea to polish brass, and such a bowl would shine up beautifully...

A brass wash pan that was used for personal grooming during the late Joseon Dynasty. The bowl has been formed by the process known as wrought, where the metal is worked into shape by beating it with a hammer. The hammering marks on this pan are clearly visible. The pan measures 4 3/4" high x 16 3/4" in diameter, and dates to the early 20th Century. It is good example of folk ware and metal art. Good Joseon Dynasty, 19th century stoneware cup/bowl with high footrim and pale greenish gray glaze and gray stoneware , this is a simple regional folk ware but has a pleasing almost celadon feel to it that needs to be held to be appreciated. There is some kiln grit in the cavetto as well as three minor hairline stress cracks. H: 8.7cm/3.5in and D: 13.1cm//5.2in.

Korean Koryo Dynasty 13th/14th Century Glazed Stoneware Bottle / Jar

This attractively-shaped stoneware bottle was made during the 13th / 14th century. It has a wide round body, a short narrow neck and a cup-shaped mouth. The surface is coated in a finely-crackled olive-green glaze, the colour varying in places according to its thickness. In places where the glaze is particularly thin, it has degraded a little over time and flaked from the surface.

Blue-glazed porcelain carp fish, a Korean scholar’s water dropper. The carp was regarded as a symbol of endurance and never-ceasing ambition - a good example for a calligrapher. The two small holes let out the drops of water needed to make fluent ink out of the hard and dry inkstone surface. Joseon dynasty, probably late 19th century. Width "3/ 7.5 cm, height "1/ 2.7 cm. Condition: fine.

Vintage korean black lacquer tobacco box with inlaid mother of pearl. The lid of the box has a beautiful design of birds on a peony branch. The interior has a lid for to cover the tobacco or incense compartment with an inlaid design of an incense burner. There is a compartment for a lighter and a bronze ash tray.
