An unmounted Tibetan thangka of the Buddha Dipakar. The Buddha appeared prior to the historical Buddha, Shakyamuni. Legends of the Buddha's past lives tell of how in a past life when Shakyamuni was a human, he met Dipankar and offered his hair to cover the path the Buddha Dipankar was walking and Dipankar Buddha predicted that the man would become the next Buddha. A votive prayer container in silver with the a Tibetan bronze character in relief on the front. The silver is incised with leaf and flower patterns. The inside has a votive tablet bronze tablet of a Tibetan god astride a makara. There are also 2 prayer sheets, one hand-lettered, the other block printed.

Tibetan Silver hand made Bangle Bracelet, 1" high, 2 1/2" 2" wide inside, 1" wide opening, with 6 Tibetan Characters and the weight is rather heavy. The condition is very good.

Set on a domed floriform base with bulbous mid section incised with flowerheads, the flaring cup cast with bands of petals with beaded rims. H. 13,5 cm.

Stunning pair of heavy silver bangles inlaid with raw polished Baltic amber, total 184 grams of silver. These have spring loaded hinges so they do not require a clasp. Inner diameters are 18cm. These crafted in a Tibetan design made by Nepalese silversmiths for a more sophisticated market than tourist kitsch. Would sell individually at $400ea.

Dhyangro drums are usually separated from their phurba (ritual dagger) handles, and the handles are sold by themselves. This is a common occurrence with Nepali dealers. This is because the handles are easier to transport and sell. So it isn't very often that you see a completely intact, old Tibetan ritual drum. The drum is made of wood and animal hide, and has shaking balls inside for accenting the rhythms created by the shaman dancer...

Red copper and silver bowl, Tibetan and probably used for buttered tea. Silver lining and foot rim, the latter with a border of stylized leaves, embossed and chased, probably early 20th century. Tibetan silver normally lacks hallmarks and this bowl tested for a silver content of 500/1000. Diameter "3 3/4 / 9.7 cm, height "2/ 5 cm. Condition: fine.

Powerful and quite rare wood image depicting Hayagriva, the wrathful emanation of Avalokiteshvara, with a horse head appearing from his skull, a dorje in his right hand; he is wearing a long necklace of skulls (the center, lower part is lost), he wears a human and elephant skin on his shoulders ( the lower, left corner of the “skin” is broken, old brake). H. 17 cm. (6,7 inches). Tibet, late 18th cent.
