Gandhara Kingdom stucco head of Buddha mounted, 3/4th Century, condition: good, left ear damaged and a few inconsequential nicks, common considering the age of this fine sculpture, size" H. 12cm x W. 8cm x D. 11cm. The idealized style is reminiscent of Greek Hellenistic sculpture which strongly influenced the Buddhist imagery of Central Asia and in particular of Gandharan artists.

Very handsome and attractive small head of Buddha, GANDHARA, 2-3rd Century, Grey Schist. The youthful face is well defined with handsome features following a classical Hellenistic-Greek style. The crescent shaped hair is toped by a raised ushnisha and a small urna is between the delicately arched eyebrows. The ear has a large pierced lobe. The nose and earlobe are slightly chipped, but inconsequential when considering the overall beauty of the exceptional face...

Archaic Indian stone fragment carving of a woman's upper half, sitting on Custom Iron stand. Strands of beads cascade down her shapely front. Her outstretched arms are fragmented at the elbows. A very beautiful schist head of a Bodhisattva, 2-4 Century AD, with soft, youthful features, wearing a diadem with rosettes. The hair is pulled up into an elaborate top knot, urna between the eyebrows. Acquired on the London (UK) Art Market prior to 1980. Mounted on a Museum Quality metal stand. A Kushan gold necklace delicately strung with very small ancient lapis lazuli beads (approximately 24 beads to an inch). There are 12 gold coins with images of 6 ancient kings - six on each side. There are 2 kings that we recognize - one is Vasudeva I, the other is "Ohsho" holding an elephant goad, thunderbolts, a trident and a goat. The center bead is a oblong fluted gold bead. Statue of a Yakshi, or Yakshini, wearing a necklace and a dhoti, standing under a flowering ashoka tree and holding a branch with her left hand. Bronze, with dark green and red partly encrusted patina and with some soil encrustation. India, ca. 2nd-1st century BC. Height: 15.2 cm. The statue is nicely mounted on a custom stand. Very good condition.

Quirky strands of bronze beads and Kushan charm in the shape of a Hindu Trishula (trident). I acquired these with a group of Kanishka coins that were found in the same place, circa 100CE. Ensemble of vintage silver and ancient banded agate beads from Sri Lanka. These were acquired in Kandy in 1998 or 1989, the banded agates are all hand carved and are at least 1000 years old (conservatively). Two strands of Kushan/Bactrian of mixed stone (mostly carnelian) beads. I acquired these along with coins dating from 1st- 4th CE from the same site in North West Pakistan, so these can be dated no later than 1500 years old. There are a few agate and quartzite beads in the lot, some with traces of “etching”. The crescent shaped beads would have originally small ringed shaped ornaments that have been drilled and “knapped” to some extent to accommodate them being strung...
