SOLD Antique Chinese ovoid form ink stone carved of green serpentine and inscribed with calligraphy on one side and archaic script on the reverse. The text on the front of the ink stone references a quote from the Analects of Confucius:
子曰：“不患人之不己知，患不知人也。 Which translates as Xue Er: The Master said, "I will not be afflicted at men's not knowing me; I will be afflicted that I do not know men." This fine and incredibly old pottery vessel was made over 6,000 years ago during the Banpo phase (c. 4800 - 4300 BC) of the Yangshao culture in present-day Shaanxi province... An antique Chinese Qing Dynasty 19th century silk brocade tapestry woven with dragons & cloud patterns; the silk ground is coral red color, backed with light brown linen; probably made for the imperial household; Excellent condition, minimal sign of use.
Measurements- Overall 86" x 55" ( There is a seam in the middle, 2 pieces of 27.5" wide joined together )

This stoneware junyao bowl was made during the Yuan Dynasty (AD 1279 - 1368). It is heavily-potted and coated in a thick jun glaze. The colour of the glaze varies from a pale mauve to a yellowish-grey. The glaze falls short of the foot that remains unglazed and has fired to a pale yellowish-brown.
