Antique Chinese carved agate snuff bottle with the image of a monkey siting upon a rock structure and holding an unusual object in his hands. Late Qing to early Republic Chinese carved agate lidded vase. Colors include a multi color orange, reddish brown and natural tone that was carved with nice details and open work. The lid and vase are nicely hollowed inside. The birds are fly catchers amongst flowers stems and leaves showing some stunning markings. A large Chinese Canton enamel bowl finely painted with flowers and peaches on a ruby-red ground. The interior with turquoise, the base with white enamel. Condition: footrim with three small enamel losses, few hairlines. Good - regarding the age and delicacy of the material. Please consult the photos, they make part of the condition report. This Chinese vase comes from Canton from the end of the 19th century or perhaps the first few years of the 20th century. The shape is termed onion neck for obvious reasons and derives from Delft forms made in Holland in the 17th century. The bright overglaze enamel colors are typical of export wares of the era and the subject matter of boys with balloons containing characters meaning "prosperity" and "good luck".

A refined antique Chinese painting done in a style similar to Western style paintings. These paintings were thought to be done in the Canton Concessions in Guangzhou during the late 19th century. Often these works depicted scenes of daily life in the streets of the Qing Period. This particular view is showing two martial artists showing their skills. A pair of two different paintings depicting different views of people either engaged in different activities. One scene appears to show a soldier like figure coming back or meeting a lady and another scene is depicting a family at leisure. Particular elements have elements similar to Chinese theatrical costuming and designs. The techniques are more Western since these works were made in Guangzhou in the Canton concessions. An interesting set of two Chinese Canton paintings depicting two festival scenes that were possibly seen on the streets in China during the Qing dynasty. The top view depicts a figure riding a horse and people are flocking to receive blessings. The bottom scene is showing a theatrical troupe passing by. A mounted two line calligraphy attributed to the Buddhist monk, Hong Yi (1880-1942). Born as Li Shutong, Hong Yi was received his education in Japan specializing in Western painting and music. A sublime calligraphy scroll having a Chinese attribution. The rough and swift strokes of the calligraphy can be seen as if movement is caught frozen in time. The calligraphy reads as an auspicious poem where the poet is using the flow of water in relation to the spread and development of the family with generation after generation of children.
