Beautiful antique Chinese snuff bottle carved all of dark agate. The stone is so smokey and dark it appears almost black but has lovely clouds of deep orange on one side. On the reverse side of the bottle, classic agate striations can be seen ranging from almost black to very thin areas of almost clear translucency. The lid of the bottle is made of a brighter orange agate and has long since lost it's spoon. The bottle is carved into an ovoid form and is pleasingly smooth and balanced...

A rare and unusual turquoise glazed, pottery gu form altar vase. Its moulded decoration depicts two dragons amongst clouds on the upper section ; on the waist are two ruyi bands and on the unglazed lower section are two cash symbols and what appears to be a double gourd. Charming Chinese Ming Dynasty painting of a pair of cats sitting under a branch of blossoming peonies. The larger of the two cats, a calico, has his eyes fixed on a butterfly. The other cat, a wild eyed tabby, crouches with a large spider in his mouth. Wonderfully painted with great detail and whimsy. Mineral colors and ink on silk with silk mounting (was once a scroll). Pair of fascinating and well modeled Chinese Qing dynasty Qianlong period soft-paste creamy white crackle glazed porcelain zodiac figures depicting a monkey and dog, both dressed in clothing and wearing boots, seated on high backed armchairs. The figures have old repairs and recent fine quality restorations and are very stable...

An old soapstone seal was in very good mood of scholar taste.

Two lions were vibrantly rendered on the top of the seal as a knob.

While well maneuvered inscriptions were on four side of the stamp.

For Chinese literati, the scholar taste was most treasured, by the meaning of the inscriptions and by the craftsmanship of the carving on the inscription.The seal obtained all these characteristics.

Chinese scroll painting of a butterfly resting atop a blooming lily, with calligraphy and signature chop of Xie Zhi Liu (1910-1997), a well-known member of the Shanghai School who would later befriend the famous artist Zhang Daqian and joined him for later studies. His artworks can be found in the China Art Museum in Shanghai and has an art gallery named after him in Changzhou. Zhi Liu was married to another famous painter named Chen Peiqiu...

Adorned with bold and complex designs of lotuses, scrolling vines, and eight Sanskrit characters along the outer sides.
