Porcelain with overglaze famille rose enamels D: 26 cm / 10.2 in Two small rim chips filled in, otherwise perfect From a Midwest collection A Guangxu mark and period plate, decorated with orchids in famille rose enamels, and a ruyi medallion border. While late Qing famille rose wares tend to be more gaudy and flashy, this particular displays surprising restraint in its design.

The Amitayus ( Bodhisattva of Longevity ) is seated on double-lotus throne in dhyanasana and with both hands in dhyanamudra. The statue is 17,1 inches high and 7,5kg heavy! Sold Description:
A fine and nice tripod censer was applied on the surface with black glaze. It was in decent look by well proportioned body with three supporting feet. The feet was shaped with well-executed skill by apparently a bamboo cutter or some hard tools. 'Cause obvious scraping scars were left at the feet trunks. The scars were also approved by a documented piece.(See last picture.) Some similar pieces are in the documentations...

With background only, we assume this must either mean it was for a student candidate not yet with rank or perhaps awaiting the addition of rank insignia (if it was appropriate to embroider or stitch onto a kesi badge.) Straits Chinese silver hallmarked adjustable mesh belt with a three-part buckle decorated in low relief with a fish among flowers. The back of the buckle contains two hallmarks with Chinese characters (see enlargement 4). 19th century. High grade silver weighing about 8 oz. Measures 34" long from end to end. The three-part buckle is about 4 3/4" x 1 3/4." Very good overall condition with minor wear and a few tiny snags at the edge of the mesh...
